Henry Thorsen's inexpensive slide copying technique

Henry sent me this explanation of how he copies slides with a slide viewer and digital camera. His results are as good as anything I've gotten with my slide scanner!

He says:

"My slide copying procedure requires a Casio QV 2000 or QV3000 digital camera and non-electric slide viewer.

all copying is done outdoors, but i don't aim the camera at the sun.

my procedure:

The macro distance on the QV2000 is 8 inches, but the viewer has a 2x magnifying lens.

The macro distance on the QV3000 is about 3 or 4 inches in that case the magnifying lens on the viewer should be removed. I have never tried copying slides with the 3000 so I don't know if the above procedure will work, but I think it will.

The slide viewer cost $3.00 at my camera store in San Diego.

My photo albums are located at these addresses: Zoo Critters all taken on slides and copied, and Casio Birds

The album Zoo Critters are all copied slides, the album Casio Birds are copied slides unless otherwise noted in the captions. All the eagle shots were taken with my Casio QV2000 in the Sitka, Alaska Raptor Rehabilation Center about a month ago.

I hope all this is useful to you.

Henry"
